Risbrook, Louis “Jamal” (27th June 1953-Present)

He is a singer and multi-instrumentalist, who changed his name to Jamal Rasool sometime prior to 1977.  Born in Brooklyn, New York, he is known primarily for playing the electric bass although is credited with being an organist and synthesiser player on some recordings.

In 1972 he and his brother Bill became founder members of the King Davis House Rockers who went through several name changes before becoming the chart-hitting group B.T. Express.  He saw success with them from 1974 with their Billboard No. 2 hit “Do It (‘Til You’re Satisfied”) and the follow up “Express” and then there were further chart songs such as “Give It What You Got” and “Can’t Stop Groovin’ Now, Wanna Do It Some More”.  He also appeared on several of their albums during his time with them over the next decade or so and some of these include Do It (‘Til You’re Satisfied). Function at the Junction, Non Stop and Shout! 

The group had a re-emergence in the 1990s when he and Dennis Rowe from the original line-up got together with a new group of musicians and the singer Valarie Lomas and after releasing a live album in 1998 they toured the United States and appeared in Japan.
