He is a trained classical musician and conductor who graduates from Oberlin College and studied with Leonard Bernstein amongst others at the Tanglewood Conducting Seminar and the European teacher, Jorma Panula.
He was the Associate Conductor of the New York Pops from 1996 to 2003 and has been a guest conductor with the Munich Symphony Orchestra, the WDR Orchestra and several festivals.
In the 2003-2004 season he collaborated with the Moscow Symphony Orchestra in Russia as well as producing and conducting two works of Arnold Schoenberg at Ethical Culture in New York and giving the world premiere of Bernstein’s 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue Orchestral Suite.
In later years he has worked with the Oregon Symphony, the Fort Worth Symphony and the Canadian Brass. He has been the music director of James Joyce’s The Dead which won a Tony Award.
