He is an orchestral conductor and teacher who studied at Ohio University and St. Louis’ Washington University. Concentrating on conducting, his teachers included Alexis Hauser, James Paul and Leonard Slatkin.
He left education to enlist in the United States Air Force and with them he was stationed at the Scott Air Force Base in Illinois where he was a member of the Military Airlift Command Band as solo trumpeter.
After leaving service he became a member of the faculty of Washington University in 1972 and went on to found the St. Louis Wind Symphony.
He is currently the music director of the St Louis Wind and Washington University symphony orchestras, and the Mighty Mississippi Concert Band, a national band clinician, guest conductor and adjudicator, and president and trumpet and horn teacher at P&P Education Services Inc.
