Powell, Petsye

She is a singer who has been active in the recording studio since at least the 1970s. She also worked with Pattie Brooks when they toured with Helen Reddy as her backup singers.

1n 1982 she ventured into the world of cinema when she was one of The Hydettes in the movie Jekyll and Hyde… Together Again.

Her career has seen her offering her vocal talents to numerous artists wiyth just a few of them being Randy Bachman, Pattie Brooks, Dr. John, George Duke, Yvonne Elliman, D.C. LaRue, Roberta Kelly, Jerry Knight, Melissa Manchester, Wilson Pickett, Brenda Russell, Bill Summers and Weird Al Yankovic.

Some of the many albums she can be heard on are Wild Romance by Herb Alpert, Southern Nights by Glen Campbell, It’s Only Love by Rita Coolidge, Secret Combination by Randy Crawford, Totally Hot by Olivia Newton John, Baby It’s Me by Diana Ross, Thunder in My Heart by Leo Sayer and I Remember Yesterday by Donna Summer.

In 2009 she performed on Nextep by her ex-husband, the jazz musician Benny Powell.

Now known as Petsye Powell-Huyghue she is credited on an album by Ernestine Anderson and is now a realtor in Nevada.
