Pijper, Jody (17th May 1952-Present)

She is a singer born in Ter Aar, South Holland, who began her career in 1972 The Hague and in 1973 sang with the band Shocking Blue and released her first solo single, “Diane in Her Dreams” followed by a cover of Dolly Parton’s “Jolene”, both just using the name Jody.

In 1974 she joined up with Rudy Bennett who had previously been with the group The Motions and Jupiter and stayed with his group for several years until she joined her sister in the group Cashmere in 1979 and had success with the hit “Love’s What I Want”.

She moved on again 1981 when she became involved as one of the lead singers for Stars on 45 that had been put together by Martin Duiser and Jaap Eggermont. This was an extremely successful venture for her as the singles and albums that ensued entered the charts all over the world.

A year later she returned to her solo career using the name Jody Miles and released a self-titled album, followed by 1985’s Jody’s Private Luxury which included songs such as “Crazy For Your Love”. Two years later in 1987 she got together some backing vocalists and sang at a Lee Towers gala performance. They became the ensemble called Jody’s Singers and released a successful album of covers in 1991.

In 1996 she performed as part of the Dutch Entry for the Eurovision Song Contest. She also joined up with the Efteling Fairy Tale Show and performed at the Efteling Fairy Tale Park Theatre for the following year.

Jody’s Singer’s came back in 2000 when they collaborated with Jan Rietman for the CD Het Grote Meezingfeest which was a recording of covers of previous successful pop songs. She was back on her own again when she sang several songs for the animate series Pokemon in 2001, performed in the 2002 Eurovision Song Contest with Sergio & The Ladies and sang on the soundtrack of Yes Nurse, No Nurse.

Jody’s Singers returned yet again in 2003 when they performed in the recording studio with Jan Smit and then in 2005 she joined the Jan Rietman Band for a 40-concert tour of The Netherlands. Back in the studio in 2007 she joined Re-Play to sing backing on their Dancing The Night Away.

2008 saw her no less busy when she worked on an album by Gino Vanelli and took up the job of a voice artist and singer on a children’s TV show.
