She is a violinist who grew up in Edmonton, Alberta who studied at at the University of British Columbia where she earned her Bachelor of Music degree. She undertook further studies for her Master of Music degree at Juilliard School. She also studied and participated at Salzburg’s Hochschule Mozarteum in Austria and the Banff Centre summer festivals.
She has received several Canada Council awards and won first prize at the Eckhardt-Gramatte Competition of Canada.
She worked in Washington D.C. as a member of the First Violin section of the Washington National Opera Orchestra and after seven years service joined the First Violin section of the Minnesota Orchestra in 2002.
Performing as a soloist she has appeared with the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra and the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra. She has also toured Canada as a recitalist.
As a chamber musician she is a founding member of the Isles Ensemble and has played in the Minnesota Orchestra Chamber Music, Sommerfest and Nightcap series. She has also played at the Common Chords and Kinderkonzerts outreach concerts. Some of the ensembles she has performed with include Continuum and The Morrison String Quartet and she has been broadcast on radio in Canada and the United States.
Recordings she can be heard on include The Best Of…, Wonderful World and Time After Time by Eva Cassidy.
In the field of musical education she began teaching when she was fourteen and has since taught at Vancouver Conservatory and as a doctoral fellow at Rutgers University. She has been the coach of the Iceland Symphony Youth Orchestra and a guest at the Minnesota Youth Symphony and the University of Minnesota Symphony Orchestra, She has also coached the National Philharmonic Summer Institute orchestra and ensembles.
