Obmann, Markus (1981-Present)

He is a horn player born in Carinthia, Austria, who began learning to play the horn by the time he was eight years old.  He was a successful competitor at the Prima la Musica youth competition and went on to study at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna from 2000, where he graduated with honours.

Before he finished his studies at the beginning of 2009 he became a horn player at the Vienna Symphony Orchestra.  He is also a member of the chamber ensembles Austrian Brass Connection and the Vienna Horns and in 2010 he was a member of the line-up for the Vienna Art Orchestra.

In his career to date he has also been a regular guest musician with the Northeast Tonkunstlerorchester, the Vienna Philharmonic, the Vienna State Opera and the Vienna Volksoper.

In the field of musical education he became an assistant teacher at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna in 2009.

His work in the recording studio has seen him perform on A Journey with Strauss, Schubert, Brahms and Director’s Cut with the Vienna Horns and Schumann: Die Symphonien with the Vienna Symphony Orchestra.
