Moschner, Franz (1953-Present)

Professor and violist from Eisenstadt, Austria, who attended the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna and studied with Hatto Beyerle.

Groups with whom he has worked include Musica Instrumentalis, the Tonkunstlerorchester, the Vienna Johann Strauss Orchestra and the Vienna Symphony Orchestra.

On 16^th October 2005, the Vienna Symphony Orchestra appeared at the Konzerthaus Grosser Saal when they performed Don Juan, Op. 20 and “Till Eulenspiegels lustige Streiche, Op. 28” by Richard Strauss and “Symphony No. 8 in G major, Op. 88” by Antonin Dvorak.

Musikverein Grosser Saal was the venue where they performed “Concerto No. 1 for Piano and Orchestra in E minor, Op. 11” by Frederic Chopin, with Lang Lang at the keys, “Symphony No. 14 in G minor, K. 183” by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and “Symphony No. 1 in B major, Op. 38” (“Fruhlingssyphonie”) by Robert Schumann on 5^th March 2006.

On 8^th November 2011, they teamed up with the Eroica Trio in Foellinger Great Hall at the Krannert Center for the Performing Arts for Ludwig van Beethoven’s “Concerto for Violin, Cello and Piano in C major, Op. 56” (“Triple Concerto”). The concert concluded with Johannes Brahms’ “Symphony No. 2 in D major, Op. 73”.

He has now retired from the Vienna Symphony Orchestra.
