Morales, Dara

She is a violinist born in Ephrata, Pennsylvania, who is the sister of Philadelphia Orchestra’s Principal Clarinet Ricardo Morales, is married to the cellist Jesus Morales and has two daughters.

She studied at the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music and graduated with her bachelor and master’s degrees.  While there she taught in the Starling Preparatory Program and was a graduate teaching assistant.

As an orchestral musician she has been the concertmaster of the Northern Kentucky Symphony, the Interim Associate Concertmaster of the Puerto Rico Symphony, Principal Second Violin of the Utah Symphony and Opera and in 2007 became an Assistant Principal Second Violin at the Philadelphia Orchestra.

Participating in many festivals she has been heard at the Grand Teton Music Festival, the Intermezzo Chamber Series in Salt Lake City and the Park City Chamber Music Festival.

In the recording studio she has performed on albums that include Dahl, Martinu, Husa: Works for Clarinets and Strings by the Sonolumina Ensemble.

In the field of musical education she is a teacher at the Philadelphia International Music Festival.  She has taught at the New York State Summer School of the Arts and also given master classes.
