Meisl, Libor

Violinist from Hodonin, Sudmahren, who attended the Brunner Konservatorium, the Prague Music Academy and the Wiener Musikuniversitat. His teachers included Jindrich Pazdera, Rudolf Stastny, Viktor Tretjakow, Milan Vitek, Edward Zienkowski and Pinchas Zuckerman.

During the 2001-2002 season, he was the first concertmaster of the Czech Radio Symphony Orchestra. He was the first leader of the first violins for the Tonkunstlerorchester Niederosterreich from 2003 to 2007. In 2007, he became the leader of the second violins for the Vienna Symphony Orchestra.

On 9^th September 2007, he participated in the Musik-Festival Grafenegg, where he and clarinetist Helmut Wiener, cellist Orfeo Mandozzi, horn player Michel Gasciarino, pianist Christine David and violist Gertrude Rossbacher interpreted Krzysztof Penderecki’s “Sextet”.

The Vienna Symphony Orchestra and the Eroica Trio performed Ludwig van Beethoven’s “Concerto for Violin, Cello and Piano in C major, Op. 56” (“Triple Concerto”) in Foellinger Great Hall at the Krannert Center for the Performing Arts on 8^th November 2011. The concert concluded with Johannes Brahms’ “Symphony No. 2 in D major, Op. 73”. They reprised this program on 14^th November 2011 at Lincoln Center in New York.

On 7^th November 2012, the Vienna Symphony Orchestra appeared at Musikverein Wien, where they offered up a pair of chamber symphonies by John Adams and Arnold Schoenberg.
