Mefsut, Mark

He is a cellist born in London, England to German/Israeli parents who moved to Bochum, Germany in 1972.  He studied cello at the Folkwang-Essen University and graduated in 1989.

That same year he had his debut concert with the Folkwang Chamber Orchestra in Essen and became solo cello there in 1992.  A year later, in 1993 he became solo cello with the Natal Philharmonic Orchestra in South Africa.

He became Principal cellist at the Philharmonic Orchestra in Pforzheim which is now known as the Neue Philharmonie Westfalin.  He has also regularly performed as a member of Musica Antiqua Koln and the Nodelman Quartet.

Busy in the recording studios he has been heard on albums that include Francesco Maria Veracini – 5 Ouvertures, Concert “Per L’Orchestra by Di Dresda and Heinichen – Lamentationes-Passionsmusik by Musica Antiqua Koln, Spharenklange, Mahler Sinfonie No.1 “Der Titan” and Bruch: Der Romantische Sinfoniker by Neue Philharmonie Westfalen,  and 10 Albums Classic by Anne Sofie Von Otter among others.
