He is a violinist and conductor who took studies in the violin and baroque violin in the Cologne and Munich music academies. He also studied conducting with the German conductor Bruno Weil.
Baroque ensembles he has performed as a member of include Enssemble Music as Rhenum, Schuppanzigh Quartet and Musica Antiqua Koln. As a chamber musician he has given concerts at various venues and festivals.
As a conductor he has been a guest conductor at the North German Philharmonic Rostock.
A specialist in historical performance practices he visited Nitzhny Novogorod yearly from 2004 to 2016 with the support of the Goethe-Institut Moscow as an ambassador for historically informed performance. He was the permanent guest conductor of the Nizhny Novgorod Soloists chamber orchestra and was appointed the position of artist director of the Festival Baroque & Classic at Nizhny Novgorod in 2009.
He has performed on many recordings during his career to date and some of these include Carl Friedrich Abel: Symphonies Op. 10 Nos 1-6 and Christmas Cantata with La Stagione, 5 Ouvertures, Concerti “Per L’Orchestra di Dresda”, Passionmusik, and Salve Regina by Musica Antiqua Koln, Ludwig van Beethoven: Streichquartett op 18/4 and op 59/3, Gaetono Brunetti – String Quartets and Ferdinand Ries – String Quartets by Schuppanzigh-Quartett and Luigi Boccherini – Chamber Music by Scala Koln along with many others.
In the field of musical education he has been a teacher at the International Handel Academy and has given master classes at Glinka State University where he was awarded honorary professorship in 2006.
