He is a violinist and composer who studied for his B.A. in Music at Yale, where he received the Louis Sudler Prize and graduated in 1994, and his Master of Music at the New England Conservatory, graduating in 1997.
Active prior to the receipt of his B.A. and Masters degrees he was commissioned by the Crossroads Chamber Orchestra to write his “Dance of the Trolls” for string orchestra in 1988. That same year he made his debut on national television when he performed on Johnny Carson’s Tonight Show.
In 1990 he debuted as a soloist with the Los Angeles Philharmonic and from 1991 to 1994 he held the position of concertmaster of the Yale Symphony Orchestra.
In 1996 he became a member of the Metamorphosen Chamber Ensemble and remained with them for two years until 1998 which was when he became a member of the Hawthorne String Quartet, remaining with them until 2002.
Also in 1998 he was taken on as a section violinist with the Boston Symphony Orchestra and moved up in the ranks when he was given the position of Principal Second Violin in 2000. His association with the BSO also saw him becoming a musician with the Boston Symphony Chamber Players. He also performed more recently as a violinist with the New Philharmonia Orchestra.
During the course of his career as a violinist he has performed as a soloist with orchestras that have included the Berkshire Symphony Orchestra, Boston Civic Symphony, the Orchestra of Indian Hill, Metamorphosen Chamber Orchestra, Richmond Symphony, the Waterloo-Cedar Falls Symphony Orchestra and the Brazilian Sinfonica de Campinas. He has also performed at several chamber music festivals and appeared in the 2002 movie Sunshine State.
As a composer he has written several works that have been performed in string ensemble concerts.
No stranger to the recording studio he has been heard on America and A Splash of Pops by the Boston Pops Orchestra and Martinu: Chamber Music With Flute with Fenwick Smith.
Winning many awards and honours over the years he has been the recipient of Los Angels MusicCenter’s Spotlight Award and been awarded several scholarships and numerous competition prizes.
In the field of musical education he has held master classes at the Department of Music at Williams College in Williamstown, Massachusetts.
