Marshall, Judy “The Gidget” (??-June 2010)

Actress-singer who started her professional career at fifteen years of age with stage credits that include Little Shop of HorrorsSteel Magnolias and Anything Goes.

She was a member of several vocal ensembles, including The Lea Jane Singers, The Jordanaires and The Nashville Edition.  According to Judy, the highlight of her career was singing backing vocals with Percy Sledge.

In 2003, The Coppertones were formed.  With Judy as the lead female vocalist, the band became a hit on the North Carolina party circuit.  They laid down their first tracks, “Eat Mo’ Grits” and “Party Down the Street”, in February 2006.  Judy’s recording of “Real Man” enjoyed airplay in the Southeastern United States.  A couple of their CDs, Boardwalk Memoriesand I Could Dance All Night II, are available at major outlets.

She passed away in Saltville, Virginia, in June 2010.
