He is a harp player often nicknamed Lalo who studied Spanish education at UCLA and performance courses at UCLA’s former Institute of Ethnomusicology during the 1960s and became a musician with the student ensemble Trio Angelino Jarocho.
He continued to play folk music after graduation and performed on the album Gracias a la Vida by Joan Baez.
He went on to work at LAUSD from 1970 to 2001 and has performed with Celtic from Los Angeles, California.
In more recent years he and his wife occasionally performed Latin American folk music at farmers markets in the Los Angeles locale.
