Lewis, John (??-1985)

He was a composer and synthesizer programmer born in Canada.

Appearing on several recordings he was brought in by Robin Scott to work on the single “Pop Muzik” by M and appeared on several other recordings by them including the album Famous Last Words.

He had been the business partner of Brian Hodgson in the company Electrophon and together they had released the albums Where are We Captain…? and New Atlantis under the name of Wavemaker.

As a composer his work was commissioned for the score of the BBC’s Dr. Who story Mark of the Rani, but sadly he died before he could finish it.  It was however carried on and incorporated into the final result.

Sadly he died of AIDS in 1985 and the 2004 album M – The History was dedicated to his memory.
