Lewis, Dee

She is a singer-songwriter and composer born Dee Fredericks in West Ham, London, sometimes credited as Dee Frederix and Dee Lewis-Clay, She came from a family where two of her sisters are the singers Linda and Shirley Lewis.

Starting out in the music industry while young, she got her first record deal in the 1980s when she was 17 years old and went on to release songs such as “Double Standard”, “Don’t Make Me Wait”, “The Best of My Love” and “Stuck on You” which brought her minor chart success in the late 1980s.  She also released several singles with her sister in the 1980s where they were credited as The Lewis Sisters.

Working as a backing vocalist she has performed on many multi-platinum selling recordings and more recently has been a member of the Official George Michael Band.  In the past she had worked with George Michael in Berlin at the first MTV European Awards.

During her career to date she has worked and recorded with countless artists that include Rick Astley, Gary Barlow, Laura Branigan, Brilliant, Cheap Trick, Jason Donovan, Sheena Easton, Climie Fisher, A Flock of Seagulls, Holly Johnson, Lulu, Katrina and the Waves, Kylie Minogue, Morcheeba, New Order, Pet Shop Boys, Jimmy Somerville, Evelyn Thomas, Trio and Was (Not Was) along with numerous others.

In the film industry she has been a featured vocalist on many movie soundtracks that include Wonder Woman, Pirates of the Caribbean and Rio.

Albums she has performed on are many, but a select few include her own Grace where she is credited as Dee Fredrix, along with The Followers of St. Julian by Julian Cope, So by Peter Gabriel, The Tide Is Turning by Millie Jackson, Undivided Love by Louise, Barry Manilow by Barry Manilow, Indigo by Matt Bianco, Dark Days in Paradise by Gary Moore, Another Place and Time by Donna Summer, Kaleidoscope World by Swing Out Sister, Psychoderelict by Pete Townshend and numerous compilations and collections.
