Violinist from Paola, Malta, who began performing at four years of age and attended the Royal Academy of Music in London, England. His teachers included Zakhar Bron, Ida Haendel, Jean Harvey, Maurice Hasson, Anne Sophie Mutter, and Gerald Poulet.
In January 2003, he and pianist Simon Hester interpreted “Violin Sonata No. 3” by Johannes Brahms and “Zapateado” by Pablo de Sarasate at the Manoel Theatre in Malta.
He was the featured soloist with the London Concert Orchestra in a performance of the “Violin Concerto” by Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky in December of 2004.
In May of 2005, he performed similar duties with the London Symphony Orchestra when they gave the world premiere of Huw Watkins’ “London Concerto”.
He was front and center again in December of 2005 when he played the “Violin Concerto” of Max Bruch with the London Philharmonic Orchestra at the Barbican.
In July of 2006, he teamed up with the Municipal Orchestra of Venezuela for a concert that featured “Violin Concerto No. 2” by Henryk Wieniawski.
He and cellist Tim Hugh joined forces with the LSO in July of 2007 for the “Double Concerto” of Brahms at the Daytona Beach International Festival.
In September of 2007, he reprised this work with Michal Kanka and the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra.
He delivered the world premiere of Patrick Doyle’s “Violin Concerto” (“Rosalind”) with the LSO at Royal Albert Hall in October of 2007.
In January 2009, he was the guest soloist of the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra as they interpreted the “Violin Concerto in A minor, Op. 53” of Antonin Dvorak at the MediterraneanConference Center in Valletta.
He and the aforementioned Simon Hester returned to the Manoel Theatre on 14th April 2009. Their recital included “Sonata in F” by Felix Mendelssohn, “Violin Sonata in A” by Cesar Franck and “Violin Sonata in A major, K. 305” by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.
On 10th July 2010, they reunited at the Malta Arts Festival for a program that comprised “Jota Aragonesa, Op. 26” by Sarasate, “Polonaise Brilliante No. 2 in A major, Op. 21” by Wieniawski, “Sonata in E major, Op. 1, No. 15” by George Frideric Handel, “Sonata No. 7 in C minor, Op. 30, No. 2” by Ludwig van Beethoven, “Sonata No. 2 in G major, Op. 13” by Edvard Grieg and “Sonatensatz in C minor” by Brahms.
Carmine was back with the Malta Philharmonic on 13th January 2012 for “Concerto in F sharp minor, Op. 14” by Wieniawski, “Overture, H. 345” by Bohuslav Martinu and “Symphony No. 8 in G major, Op. 88” by Dvorak.
On 2nd June 2012, he and cellist Peter Adams and pianist Marios Papadopoulos performed Beethoven’s “Triple Concerto in C major” with the Oxford Philomusica.
Recordings on which he appears include his own Bravura and Violin Extravaganza, Bruckner: Symphony No. 6 and Dvorak: Requiem with the London Philharmonic, and Holst: The Planets, Mozart: Piano Concertos Nos. 24 & 25/Rondo in A major and Tolga Kashif: The Genesis Suitewith the LSO.
