Laughton, Sheila

She is a cello player who became a member of the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra in 1975 and played with the orchestra for the rest of her career until her retirement in 2015.

She held the position of Acting Principal Cello and Assistant Principal Cello and performed at many concerts including the second concert with the rock band Procol Harum in 1992 and again in 2010.   She also played at Requiem by Da Camera Singers in 1999.

Recordings she has performed on include Salute to Swing by Gary Guthman, Return of the Whirlwind by the Ukrainian Shumka Dancers and Pieces of Dreams by various artists.

In the field of musical education she has been a faculty member of The Royal Conservatory in Edmonton and the Concordia School of Music at the University of Edmonton.
