Larsen, Tage (7th November 1970-Present)

He is a trumpet player born in Hartford, Connecticut ad raised in Cambridge, Massachusetts who studied at Michigan State University, where he earned his Bachelor of Music degree, and the Eastman School of Music where he earned his Master of Music.  In 2004 he was the recipient of the first Michigan State University College of Music Distinguished Alumni Award.

He toured nationally with the Dallas Brass Quintet while a student at the Eastman School of Music and went on to be solo cornet with “The President’s Own” U.S. Marine Band from 1995 to 1999.  He went on to become Principal Trumpet with the Annapolis Symphony Orchestra from 1999 to 2000 followed by being Second Trumpet with the Saint Louis Symphony Orchestra from 2000 to 2002.  He was appointed as Fourth/Utility trumpet of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra in 2002.

As a recitalist and soloist he has presented the program Aperture with Longy Trumpets and been a guest trumpet soloist with the Evanston Symphony Orchestra in Illinois.

Recordings he has performed on include Live by Chicago Symphony Orchestra Brass, the soundtrack of the film Lincoln by the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Wandering by Richard Katz and C.W. McCall – American Spirit by Mannheim Steamroller.

In the field of musical education he is a member of the faculty of DePaul University School of Music and is a featured faculty soloist for DePaul Festival Winds.  He has also been a faculty member at Roosevelt University’s Chicago College of Performing Arts and given many master classes.  He has been featured in the music education advocacy campaign between the CSO Association and Yamaha Corporation of American known as Dream Out Loud and been a performer at International Trumpet Guild conferences.
