Ladurner, Christian (1964-Present)

Violist, composer and multi-instrumentalist from Innsbruck, Austria, who attended the Conservatory of Innsbruck, and studied viola with Hatto Beyerle, Martin Mumelter and Thomas Riebl.  In addition to his primary career in music, he earned a degree in theology and spent some time working as a parish assistant.

Groups with whom he has worked include Ensemble Wiener Facetten, the Gustav Mahler Youth Orchestra, the Marini Consort, the Tiroler Kammerorchester and the Vienna Symphony Orchestra.

On 30th May 2004, he was one of several musicians and vocalists who appeared at Stiftskirche Melk for a program of Baroque music that comprised “Laudate Dominum (E29)” by Johann Josef Fux, “Magnificat a 6 voci” by Claudio Monteverdi and Missa ex B by Heinrich Ignaz Franz Biber.

“H.I.F. Biber in Piber” was the name of the program he participated in at Musica Sacra Piber on 20th and 28th May 2005, when he played viola da gamba on Biber’s “Rosenkranzsonaten” (XI-XV).

On 8th May 2009, Ensemble Wiener Facetten took part in Festival internacional de Ushuaia where they performed “Bajaderen Walzer, Op. 53” by Johann Strauss II, “Hans-Jorgel-Polka” and “Neue Wiener Landler” by Joseph Lanner, and “Kettenbrucken-Walzer, Op. 4” by Johann Strauss.

The Vienna Symphony Orchestra and Eroica Trio interpreted Ludwig van Beethoven’s “Concerto for Violin, Cello and Piano, Op. 56” (“Triple Concerto”) in Foellinger Great Hall at the Krannert Center for the Performing Arts on 8th November 2011.  The concert concluded with Johannes Brahms’ “Symphony No. 2 in D major, Op. 73”.

On 5th August 2012, the Baroque Ensemble of the Vienna Symphony Orchestra took the stage at the Bregenz Festival where they offered up “Brandenburg Concerto No. 3 in G major, BWV 1048” by Johann Sebastian Bach.

J.S. Bach’s “Brandenburg Concerto No. 5 in D major, BWV 1050” opened their concert at Wallfahrtskirche on 23rd March 2013.  The big finale was Georg Friedrich Handel’s Water Music, HWV 348-350.
