Violinist who was “discovered” by Iona Brown when serving as leader of the National Youth Orchestra in the United Kingdom. She was asked to go on a tour of the United States the next month with the Norwegian Chamber Orchestra. Then she attended the Royal Academy of Music and toured with the Academy of St. Martin in the Fields. She was already a part of the London Symphony Orchestra when she graduated with honours. In 2011, she became a full-time member of the first violin section. She has also worked with the Asia Philharmonic Orchestra.
On 22nd October 2010, she and pianist Sophia Rahman and violinist Rhys Watkins performed “Etudes-Caprices for Two Violins, Op. 18” by Henryk Wieniawski and “Suite for Two Violins and Piano, Op. 71” by Moritz Moszkowski at an LSO Discovery Lunchtime Concert.
She gave a master class to the YouTube Symphony Orchestra in 2011. Her online interactions with classical music fans have made her something of an Internet liaison between the LSO and the public. She is also the reigning fashionista of the orchestra, always stunning concert-goers with her choice of formalwear. (You try leaving the stage discreetly during a performance in five-inch heels.)
On 12th May 2012, the LSO offered up wall-to-wall Stravinsky at Trafalgar Square. They opened with Igor Stravinsky’s “Fireworks” and followed it up with The Firebird and The Rite of Spring.
Recordings on which she appears include Classikhan with Chaka Khan & the LSO, and the soundtracks of Harry Potter, Star Wars, and The Queen.
You can also add “author” to her accomplishments: She wrote a chapter for Tom Hoover’s book, Soundtrack Nation.
