He is an orchestral conductor and composer born in Southern Bohemia, Czechoslovakia. He studied at the B. Jaremais School of Music and the Prague Conservatory and in 1962 he became a radio producer and conductor in Pilsen.
On his return to Prague he founded Chorea Bohemica Ensemble in 1967 and became the Artistic Director for the Musica Bohemia chamber ensemble in 1975 and the Artist Director and conductor of Capella Istropolitana.
The International Composer’s Competition awarded him first prize for his opera Raab and he has been hailed for his Bohemian folk music arrangements.
He has designed and reconstructed many new instruments to add certain sounds to his Czech folklore inspired compositions. His works include concertos, cantatas, orchestral compositions including a symphony and many chamber pieces.
