Kirschen, Jeffry

He is a horn player and business owner born in Philadelphia who studied at the Curtis Institute of Music and Temple University.  In 1985 he was the first prize winner at the American Horn Competition.

After graduation he joined the Seattle Symphony as Acting Principal Horn and was Co-Principal Horn with the Utah Symphony. In 1989 he became a member of The Philadelphia Orchestra and has been a guest musician with the Boston, Dallas and Seattle Symphonies.

As a chamber musician he has performed many recitals and played on the Philadelphia Orchestra’s Chamber Music series as well as with ensembles that include 1807 & Friends and the Lenape Chamber Players.

Recordings he has performed on include An Airus Christmas with Kurt Bestor by Kurt Bestor, Greater Than Us All by Kenneth Cope, Ten Percent by Double Exposure, Loleatta by Loleatta Holloway, Peter Tchaikovsky: Symphony No. 6 “Pathetique”/Dumka by The Philadelphia Orchestra, Magic Journey by The Salsoul Orchestra and  ‘Lectric Lady by Carol Williams as well as Music of Henry Wolking and Ramiro Cortes and Pulp Fusion: Return to the Tough Side by various artists.

In the field of musical education he has taught at both high school and university level and has been a teacher and performed at the Luzerne Music Center.  He has been a faculty member of the New York State Summer School for the Arts and Temple University

Outside of music he studies contemporary realistic painting and owns a health and wellness consumer direct marketing business and is a co-owner of Level 2 Billiards.
