Kerschbaum, Martin (1961-Present)

He is a percussionist born in St. Johann, Tyrol, Austria who studied music in Vienna.

He became a member of the Vienna Symphony Orchestra and during that time he started to devoted himself to conducting.  This led to him founding the Vienna Classical Players chamber orchestra who have since appeared in several European countries and appeared at the Ivo Pogorelich Festival.  One of their successful concerts at the Wiener Konzerthaus called Mozart and the Turks and a double CD of Mozart’s violin concertos.

In 2008 and 2009 he performed in German and Scandinavia with the K& K Philharmoniker on a multi-week tour.  Also in 2009 he debuted at the Bregenz Festival and following an invitation from Vladimir Fedosejev he conducted the Tchaikovsky Symphony Orchestra in Moscow in 2010.  He has since received further invitations in 2012, 2015 and 2017.

Recordings he has performed on include Haydn – Armida and Missa in Angustiis “Nelsonmesse” – Te Deum by Concentus Musicus Wien, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart – Solo konzerte fur Violin und Orchester and Paganini – Le Streghe; I Palpiti; Non Pu Mesta by Vienna Classical Players and VSOP by Vienna Symphony Orchestra.
