Violist from Waiern, Karnten, Austria, who started out on piano and violin, and attended the Konservatorium Wien Privatuniversitat and the Universitat fur Musik, where he picked up the viola. His teachers included Peter Ochsenhofer and Karl Steirhof.
Groups with whom he has worked include the Radio-Symphonieorchester, the Vienna Symphony Orchestra, the Wiener Philharmonikern, the Wiener Staatsoper and the Wiener Volksoper.
On 21st and 22nd March 2002, the Vienna Symphony Orchestra and Wiener Singakademie appeared in the Grosser Saal at the Wiener Konzerthaus where they performed Johann Sebastian Bach’s St. John Passion, BWV 245.
The Vienna Symphony Orchestra and Eroica Trio interpreted Ludwig van Beethoven’s “Concerto for Violin, Cello and Piano in C major, Op. 56” (“Triple Concerto”) in Foellinger Great Hall at the Krannert Center for the Performing Arts on 8th November 2011. The concert concluded with Johannes Brahms’ “Symphony No. 2 in D major, Op. 73”.
On 5th August 2012, Christian and fellow violists Herbert Muller, Ulrich Schonauer and Isabella Stepanek, and bassoonist Georg Stepanek, participated in the Bregenzer Festspiel at the Festspielhaus. Their program comprised “Cassation in F major” by Antonin Vranicky, “Divertissement” by Claude-Henry Joubert, “Fantasie” by York Bowen and “Nachtstuck” by Max von Weinzierl.
