Kabas, Martin (1963–Present)

Accordionist and double-bassist from Dornbirn, Austria, who attended Graz Music University and the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna.  His teachers included Johannes Auersperg, Alois Posch and Ludwig Streicher.

Groups with whom he has worked include the Artis Orchestra, the Austrian-Hungarian Haydn Philharmonic, Camerata Academica Salzburg, Ensemble Berlin, Ensemble Kontrapunkte, the Ensemble of the 20th Century, the Gustav Mahler Festival Orchestra, the San Francisco Symphony Orchestra, the Vienna Chamber Orchestra, the Vienna Philharmonic, the Vienna Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Vienna State Opera and the Vienna Symphony Orchestra.

On 8th November 2011, the Vienna Symphony Orchestra and Eroica Trio interpreted Ludwig van Beethoven’s “Concerto for Violin, Cello and Piano in C major, Op. 56” (“Triple Concerto”) in Foellinger Great Hall at the Krannert Center for the Performing Arts.  The concert concluded with Johannes Brahms’ “Symphony No. 2 in D major, Op. 73”.
