She is a violist who studied in New York City with the violist Kim Kashkashian before going on to earn her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees at the Juilliard School. She went on to earn her doctorate at the University of Washington and her doctoral dissertation on Shostakovich’s Viola Sonata was later published as a research aid.
She became a member of the Northwest Sinfonietta, Auburn Symphony and Pacific Northwest Ballet Orchestra where she performed as both Principal and Solo violist.
Her work as a chamber musician has seen her co-founding the Bellingham Chamber Music Society, where she has also held the position of President, and she has also performed as a member of the A Piacere Musica da Camera ensemble and the Spokane String Quartet. She has been a guest performer at Chamber Music San Juans, Olympic Music Festival and the Second City Chamber Music Series.
Recordings she has performed on include her own Bach: Suites for Solo Viola along with Ballad Stories by Hilary Field. and Les Amoureux De L’Orgue.
In the field of musical education she coaches at adult chamber music retreats as well as local high schools. She has been on the faculty of Eastern Washington University as Assistant Professor of Violin/Viola, has held master classes and teaches students at her own private viola studio, which she established in 1995. She has also published a performer’s guide to Bach and two technique books.
