He is a bass player, keyboardist, percussionist, drummer, singer, composer, producer and tutor born Darrell D. Johnson in Louisiana. He is the nephew of The Neville Brothers and has been a studio musician for much of his career.
He has been heard performing with numerous artists that include Jimmy Buffett, Dixie Chicks, Bob Dylan, Marianne Faithfull, Peter Gabriel, Emmylou Harris, Mick Jagger, Patti LaBelle, Joni Mitchell, The Neville Brothers, Iggy Pop, Linda Ronstadt, Boz Scaggs and U2 among many others.
