Jezurski, Diann (1953-Present)

Violist from Albany, New York, who started to learn the viola in third grade and when she was 15 became the youngest member of the Albany Symphony Orchestra.  She entered the Eastman School of Music in Rochester but deciding they didn’t put enough emphasis on chamber music she dropped out.

After meeting the cellist Melissa Meell and becoming firm friends they performed duos together and founded the Primavera String Quartet who also performed on Frank Sinatra’s 1979 boxed set, Trilogy.

In December of 1981, the Quartet performed in concert at Alice Tully Hall in New York in a program that ranged from Franz Joseph Haydn to Igor Stravinsky.  They have also performed off-Broadway, in a play entitled The Columbine Quartet Tonight, and made numerous television appearances.

Have a listen to them on Elie Siegmeister’s String Quartet No. 3 (on Hebrew Themes), released on CD in 2007.
