He is a violinist born in Australia who studied at the Queensland Conservatorium and was a concertmaster for the Queensland Youth Orchestra, the Australian Youth Orchestra and the International Youth Orchestra.
He made his debut, performing Prokofiev’s “Violin Concerto No. 1″ with the Queensland Symphony Orchestra in 1985 and in 1987 he gave the Australian premiere Lutoslawski’s”Partita”.
He took further studies, including chamber music, at the San Francisco Conservatory in 1991 and while there he formed the Conservatory Quartet. In 1994 he became a member of the Arditti Quartet. With this ensemble he made over 70 recordings, which included winning two Grammaphone awards and the Siemens Prize, and toured worldwide, giving over 200 premieres.
As a soloist he has appeared with orchestras including Concertgebouw Orchestra, Munich Philharmonic, the Tasmanian Symphony and the Austrian Radio Orchestra.
After leaving the Arditti Quartet in 2005 he has concentrated mainly on chamber music and returned to his home country to live in Brisbane where he lectures on violin and viola at the Queensland Conservatorium of Music.
