Jeanneret, Marc

He is a French violist who took his musical studies at the Paris Conservatoire where he graduated with a Leon Pascal first prize.

He relocated to Indiana University in the United States and became a performance certificate recipient as a student of William Primrose.

Holding varying positions in several French and American Orchestras, he has performed with the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra, Paris Opera Orchestra, the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra and the Via Nova String Quartet.  In the early to mid 1970s he held the post of Assistant Principal Viola with the National Orchestra of France.

In 1977 he became a member of the Boston Symphony Orchestra and has since gone on to perform as a soloist with the Boston Pops Orchestra, Collegium Musicum and the Orchestra de la Suisse Romande.

Taking part in music competitions he has won a medal “with distinction” at the Geneva International Viola Competition.

No stranger to the recording studio, his work can be heard on America, American Visions, The Celtic Album, Chris Botti In BostonHoliday Pops and My Favorite Things: A Richard Rodgers Celebration by the Boston Pops Orchestra.
