Janse, Aaron

He is a violinist and violist who was awarded a Fritz Kreisler Scholarship and studied for his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees at Juilliard School . His chamber music studies saw him working with several renowned teachers and the Juilliard and Guarneri String Quartets.  He was Concertmaster for the Juilliard Orchestra and a Teaching Fellow for the famed Dororth DeLay, where he taught technique classes for her studio at the Juiliard School Pre-College Division and at the Aspen Music Festival.

He became a member the Minnesota Orchestra in 1995, where he performs as second violin.  During his career has performed as a violinist and violist with orchestras that include the Berlin Philharmonic, Chicago Symphony Orchestra, the Minnesota Orchestra.  He has also been a substitute violinist for the Berlin Philharmonic from 2004 to 2005, the Boston Symphony Orchestra in 2013 and the Chicago Symphony Orchestra from 2001 to 2015.

As a chamber musician he has performed at several chamber music festivals and venues  that include Alpenglow Festival, Aspen Music Festival, Cincinatti’s Linton Series, Foulger International Music Festival the Las Vegas Music Festival, Tateuchi International Music Festival and Timpanogos String Camp.

He has performed and collaborated with many acclaimed musicians such as Ayke Agus, Alicia DeLarrocha, Stephan Hough, Gil Shaham, Joseph Silverstein and many others.

In the recording studio he has performed on albums, outside of those with the Minnesota Orchestra, that include Eclairs sur l’Au-Dela – Images from Beyond by the Berlin Philharmonic, Spirit Wind and Zen Relaxation by Timothy Frantzich and Masters of Classical by Dirk Freymouth.

In the field of musical education he is an experienced teacher who was a faculty member of the MacPhail Center for Music from 2003 to 2006.  He runs his own violin and viola studio where some of his  students attend many top universities and conservatories.  They have won concerto competitions and performed with Minnesota’s top youth symphonies.  He has taught and held master classes at universities and conservatories through the United States.
