Hrubovcak, Jan (8th July 1961-Present)

Trombonist born in Humenne, Slovakia, who studied at the Kosice Conservatory from 1976 to 1982 before becoming First Trombone for the Symphonic Orchestra Zlin in 1984 before it became the Slovak Television Dance Orchestra.

From 1985 to 1988 he attended the Academy of Performing Arts in Bratislava and also in 1985 he became First Trombone and alto trombone of the State Philharmonic Kosice, who he has given many solo performances with.

He has worked with many national and international orchestras and chamber orchestras on alto, bass and tenor trombones and, as an owner of around 200 custom made instruments has organised educational exhibition performances that introduce many wind instruments such as the tuba, cornet, piccolo trumpet, saxophone and trombone.  He also appeared with the Bratislava Chamber Soloists on the CD Brass Baroque Delights.

In the field of musical education he became a teacher of trombone and chamber music at the Kosice Conservatory and remained there until 2003.
