She is a violinist born in Edmonton, Alberta who earned her Master of Music degree at the University of British Columbia.
She was a member of the NYO of Canada in 1988, 1990 and 1991 and became a freelance musician in Vancouver, British Columbia, before becoming a member of Symphony Nova Scotia where she held the position of Assistant Principal Second. After two years with the orchestra she returned home to Edmonton in 2001 to become a violinist in the First Violin Section of the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra.
As a chamber musician she is a co-founder of the Onyx String Quartet, formed in 2008 and composed of members of the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra, and has performed with ensembles that include the WindRose Trio, New Music Edmonton and the Alberta Baroque Ensemble. She has also performed with the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra in chamber performances including “She Says…” performed at the Art Gallery of Alberta.
In the field of musical education she teaches chamber music and has been a member of the C”Mon Ensemble at the C’Mon Festival.
She is married to the ESO bassoon player Matthew Howatt.
