Violinist who attended the New England Conservatory and studied under Louis Krasner and Christopher Poppen.
In the 1990s, he appeared on the following recordings: Blake Songs & Other Works by Jonathan Lovenstein, The First Time by Carri Coltrane; Jupiter 88; and, Metamorphosen.
Groups with whom he has worked include Andover Chamber Music, the Auros Group for New Music, the Baltimore Symphony, the BBC Symphony Orchestra, the Boston Ballet, Boston Pops, the Boston Symphony Orchestra, the Breckenridge Chamber Orchestra, the Breckenridge Music Festival Orchestra, the Charleston Symphony, the Colorado Symphony, the Hartford Symphony, the Lexington Sinfonietta, the Munich Chamber Orchestra, the New World Symphony, the New York String Orchestra, and the Rochester Symphony.
In 2001, he appeared on the CDs, Tuck and Roll by Stephen Mackey and White Mares of the Moon by the New World Symphony.
He was a guest soloist with the Charleston Symphony at the First Presbyterian Church on 29th May 2003 in a program that comprised Samuel Barber’s “Violin Concerto, Op. 14” and Gian-Carlo Menotti’s “Concerto in A minor”.
In October 2004, he soloed on Peteris Vasks’ “Distant Light”, a violin concerto in one movement that was choreographed by Peter Martins for the Boston Ballet.
He and pianist Debra Ayers and cellist Mark Moscovitz interpreted Jay Anthony Gach’s “Trio Grande” on 5th November 2004.
In May 2005, the Auros Group for New Music presented an evening of Argentine music with the Boston Tango Society in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
Jason was the guest leader of the BBC Symphony Orchestra on 21st May 2005 at the Barbican in a concert of “The Bells” by Sergei Rachmaninoff and “Symphony No. 15” by Dmitri Shostakovich.
In 2006, he became a member of the Boston Symphony Orchestra.
He was the featured soloist of the Lexington Sinfonietta when they offered up Barber’s “Violin Concerto” at the National Heritage Museum on 8th April 2006.
In April 2009, he and cellist Jonathan Miller, glass harmonica player Thomas Bloch, violinist Elita Kang and violist Edward Gazouleas delivered the American premiere of “Sonatina for Glass Harmonica and Strings” by Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach.
He and fellow BSO member Julianne Lee gave a recital at the James Library and Center for the Arts with the library’s music director, bassist Larry Wolfe, on 3rd April 2009.
In 2009, he appeared on the CD/DVD, Chris Botti in Boston.
Andover Chamber Music entertained at West Parish Church on 29th September 2010. Their program comprised Antonin Dvorak’s “Quartet for Strings No. 12 in F major” (“American”), Franz Joseph Haydn’s “Symphony No. 97 in C major” and Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky’s “Sextet for Strings in D major” (“Souvenir of Florence”).
In February 2011, Jason and cellist Owen Young and violist Rebecca Glitter performed Ludwig van Beethoven’s “Quartet No. 2 in E minor, Op. 59” (“Razumovsky”) and Gabriel Faure’s “Quartet in E minor, Op. 121” at the Thayer Academy for the Arts and Twelfth Baptist Church.
In the field of music education, he has served on the faculties of the New England Conservatory and Project STEP.
