Holzman-Little, Carrie

Violist from Long Beach, California, who attended Wilson High School, The Banff School of the Arts and the University of California in Santa Barbara, from whence she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts.  She complemented her education at the Blossom Music Festival, The Music Academy of the West, the Oregon Bach Festival, and the Tanglewood Music Festival.  Her instructors included Ron Copes, Louis Kievman, Hechiiro Ohyama, and William Primrose.

In 1990, she became a member of the Pasadena Symphony.  Other groups with whom she has worked comprise the Crown City String Quartet, the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra, the Long Beach Symphony Orchestra, the Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra, and the Santa Monica Symphony.

On 12th January 2011, the Crown City Quartet performed “Music at Noon” at Pasadena Presbyterian Church.  Carrie and harpist Carolyn Sykes provided music at Mark Alan’s “Accessorize and Gift This Holiday Season with Fair Trade, Fashion, and Finesse” presentation at Ten Thousand Villages on 5th November 2011.

In addition to her role as musician, she serves as music contractor for All Saints Church, FirstUnited Methodist Church, the Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra, Los Angeles Children’s Choir, Our Lady of Angels Cathedral, Pasadena Presbyterian Church, Santa Monica Symphony and Westwood Presbyterian.  She is also the personnel manager for the Long Beach Symphony Orchestra, and union representative for Local 47 of the American Federation of Musicians.

In the field of music education, she gives private lessons and is a viola coach for the Gold Coast Chamber Music Festival and the Verdugo Young Musicians Association.
