Hill, Reginald (?-1992)

British violinist who was Principal second violin with the London Symphony Orchestra before he moved to Los Angeles and became a much sought after session musician.

He recorded with countless artists and groups in the 1970s and ’80s with just some of them including Michael Bolton, George Duke, The Emotions, Julio Iglesias, James Ingram, Earl Klugh, Melissa Manchester, Sergio Mendes, Donny Osmond, Greg Phillinganes, Kenny Rogers, Diane Schuur, Doc Severinsen, Teena Marie, Toni Tenille and Wilson Phillips.

His album credits are immense an just a select few include Continuation by Philip Bailey, Hot August Night II by Neil Diamond, Faces and Raise! by Earth, Wind & Fire, Marathon by Rodney Franklin, Discosymphony by Walter Murphy, Don’t Stop by Jeffrey Osborne, Parade by Prince and the Revolution, Big Fun by Shalamar, Trilogy; Past, Present & Future by Frank Sinatra, Bet Cha Say That to All the Girls by Sister Sledge and Curtis Stigers by Curtis Stigers.

His film credits include The Color Purple, Dirty Harry, and Love At First Bite.

Reginald passed away in 1992.

After a fight by his wife, Elizabeth, who had contacted the royalties payments company PPL about non-payment for his work on Michael Jackson’s “Billie Jean” and many others.  He was finally given credit and royalties for a further 54 recordings he made in his years active in Los Angeles in 2015.
