He is a violinist who was given a violin owned by the family on his 8th birthday. His father was an amateur harpsichordist who organised many church concerts with musicians from the Bochum Symphony Orchestra which is where he got his first experiences in performance.
He took studies in violin and composition in Essen and Karsruhe before attending advanced classes with various professors that included Walter Levin and Richard Goebels.
During his career he has performed with several ensembles that include Musica Antiqua Koln, Quinten String Quartet and Musikfabrik North Rhine-Westphalia and in 1996 he became a member of the Bamberg Symphony Orchestra.
Recordings on which he cane be heard include Francesco Maria Veracini – 5 Overtures and Heinrichen – Concerti “Per L’Orchestra di Dresda” by Musica Antiqua Koln and Hufschmidt – Portrait.
