Gomez, Lino

Multi-reed musician who has worked with the American Saxophone Quartet, the American Symphony, the Boston Symphony Orchestra Chamber Players, the Coffee Club Orchestra, the MET Chamber Ensemble, the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra, the New Jersey Symphony, the New York City Ballet Orchestra, the New York Philharmonic, the New York Pops, the Saturday Night Live Band, and the Scott Healy Ensemble.

His theatrical credits include All Shook UpBabes in ArmsA Chorus LineThe Full MontyMan of La ManchaMiss Saigon, and West Side Story.

On 22nd February 2004, the MET Chamber Ensemble interpreted John Harbison’s “Music for Eighteen Winds” at Carnegie Hall.  They returned on 13th February 2005 for a performance of Arnold Schoenberg’s “Pierrot lunaire, Op. 21” with soprano Dawn Upshaw.

On 27th February 2005, they gave a recital that included Alban Berg’s “Chamber Concerto for Piano and Violin with 13 Winds” and Gyorgy Ligeti’s “Chamber Concerto for 13 Instrumentalists”.

Lino and violinist Shem Guibbory and pianist Molly Morkoski appeared at the New York Public Library for the Performing Arts where they performed music by Bright Sheng and Dmitri Shostakovich on 2nd February 2006.

On 7th January 2008, he was one of several musicians to take the stage at Weill Recital Hall for works by Susan Kander, including “Five Movements for my Father” and “Pas de Deux for Clarinet, Cello and Chimes”.
