Geldsetzer, Florian (1969-Present)

He is a violinist born in the Siegerland, Germany who was first taught violin by his mother. When he was 12 years old he studied with Professor Gerhard Peters in Cologne followed by Professor Michael Gaiser in Dusseldorf where he graduation with a concert exam and distinction.  He also attended master classes in New York.

While a student he performed with the the European Union Youth Orchestras along with other federal and state youth orchestra and later he got his first job as a member of the Chamber Orchestra of Europe.

For several years he studied and performed the baroque violin with Richard Goebel and Musica Antiqua Koln, appearing on several of their recordings.

In 1996 he became the concertmaster with the Duisburg Philharmonic Orchestra of the Deutsche Oper am Rhein and remained there until 2013.  The following year he became the concertmaster of the Essen Philharmonic Orchestra.

Together with his wife he has performed in the Duisurg Philharmonic piano quartet and in the Kreisler Duo.

Busy in the recording studio he has appeared on albums that include Ino, Johann David Heinichen – Dresden Concerti, Concert “{er L’Orchestra di Dresda” and Torelli: Italian Violin Concertos by Musica Antiqua Koln and Ludwig van Beethoven: Overtures, Schumann: Genoveva and Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy/Robert Schumann with the Chamber Orchestra of Europe among others.

In the field of musical education he has a lectureship in orchestral literature at the Cologne University  of Music and has done an examination of the life and work of Adolph and Fritz Busch.
