Fehling, Fox

She is a violinist born in Iowa City, Iowa who started playing the violin when she was 9 years old and had been a soloist with the University of Iowa Symphony and Cedar Rapids Symphony by the time she was 15 years old.  She went on to study and the Manhattan School of Music in New York on a full scholarship and became the Mischa Elman Award’s first winner.  She later studied at the Juilliard School and participated in several music festivals.

She performed as assistant principal second violin of the Lyric Opera of Chicago Orchestra and was a member of the Grant Park Orchestra and Orlando Symphony.  She became a member of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra in 1979 and over the years has also performed with other orchestras that include the Florida Symphony, the National Orchestra of New York, the Piedmont Chamber Orchestra and Springfield Symphony. Taking a year out in 1994 she went to Norway and performed as assistant concertmaster with The Bergen Philharmonic.

She performed in the 1980s with CSO’s country-western swing band CSOkies as well as playing as being the concertmaster and a soloist with the Loyola Chamber Orchestra for 20 years.  She participated in Bach Week in Evanston from 1972 until 2000 and Music of the Baroque from 1986 until present and from 1994 until 2000 was the resident violinist at the Wallowa Lake Chamber Music Festival.
