Evans, Megan

She is a horn player from Vancouver, British Columbia, who studied with Montreal Symphony Orchestra’s Principal Horn John Zirbel and Associate Principal Horn Denys Derome, earning her Bachelors and Masters of Music degrees at McGill University’s Schulich School of Music.

She became a member of the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra, where she now holds the position of  Assistant Principal Horn as well as performing as an invited soloist.

Performing with many other orchestras in North America she has played with the Alberta Baroque Ensemble, who she has also been a soloist with, the Montreal Symphony Orchestra, the Niagara Symphony Orchestra, the Thunder Bay Symphony Orchestra and the Windsor Symphony.  She has also been a guest artist for the All-Star Brass and the Rafael Mendez Brass Institute.

Performing as a chamber musician she regularly plays as a member of her Bok Brass Quintet who were formed in 2015 and perform at various festivities and special events.  She has also been a participant at the Aspen Music Festival, the Brott Music Festival and the Colorado Music Festival, where she is a section horn.

Recordings she has performed on include the 2014 Banff Summer Music Festival’s All Star Brass Live.

In the field of musical education she teaches students in French horn and trumpet from her studio.  She has also been a co-presenter of the ESO’s music appreciation of the last century course Innovation & Inspiration.
