Eisner, Elmar (1956-Present)

He is a horn player and professor born in Vienna, Austria, who took his further education at what is now Vienna’s University of Music and Performing Art from 1973.  At the same time he was a music student he was also a medical student, but after completing his studies in medicine he decided to pursue the musical side of things for his career.

In 1980 he became a Fourth Horn with the Vienna Symphony Orchestra and in 1981 he graduated from the University of Music with a distinction.  He also performed as a chamber musician with several of the orchestra’s ensembles and as a member of the Niederosterreichisches Tonkunstlerorchester.

He has also been a soloist on works by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and a horn concerto by Richard Strauss and performed in concert with the VSO and the Eroica Trio in 2011.

He has now retired.
