Dura, Roxana

Violinist from Romania who has performed with Capella Istropolitana, the Chamber Orchestra from Bucharest, and the Vienna Symphony Orchestra.

In April 1986, she and cellist Iosef Calef and fellow violinists Nicolae Iliescu and Ana-Maria Madru were the featured soloists when the Chamber Orchestra from Bucharest recorded Arcangelo Corelli’s “Concerto Grosso No. 10 in C major, Op. 6” at Sala de Marmora in Casei Scinteli, Romania.

The Vienna Symphony Orchestra performed in the Great Hall at the Wiener Konzerthaus on 4^th March 2003. Their program included “Accelerationen”, “Neue Pizzicato-Polka” and “Unter Donner und Blitz” by Johann Strauss II, “Burleske Musik” by Karl Amadeus Hartmann, “Concert Romanesc” by Gyorgi Ligeti, “Dance of the Hours” from La Gioconda by Amilcare Ponchielli, “Facher-Polonaise” and “Wiener Burger” by Carl Michael Ziehrer, “Eine Fahrt durch Moskau” and “Polka-Gallop” from Moscow, Cheryomushki, “Foxtrott No. 3” from “Suite No. 1 for Jazz Orchestra” and “Walzer II from the Suite No. 2 for Jazz Orchestra” by Dmitri Shostakovich, “J.P. Haydn: Ankunftssymphonie” by Peter Planyavsky, the overture from “Gaite Parisienne” by Jacques Offenbach and “Va, pensiero, sull’ali dorate” from Nabucco by Giuseppe Verdi.

In 2007, the Vienna Symphony Orchestra joined forces with the Bregenz Festival Chorus, Martin Busen, Alexander Krawetz, Nadja Michael, Gidon Saks, Sebastian Soules, Zoran Todorovich, Katia Velletaz and Martin Winkler in a performance of Tosca by Giacomo Puccini that has been immortalized on DVD by Naxos.

The Vienna Symphony Orchestra teamed up with the Eroica Trio for Ludwig van Beethoven’s “Concerto for Violin, Cello and Piano in C major, Op. 56” (“Triple Concerto”) in Foellinger Great Hall at the Krannert Center for the Performing Arts on 8^th November 2011. The concert concluded with Johannes Brahms’ “Symphony No. 2 in D major, Op. 73”. They reprised this program at Lincoln Center in New York on 14^th November 2011.
