Doyon, Robin

He is a trumpeter born in East Angus, Quebec who studied at the University of Montreal, where he earned both his Bachelor degree and Masters degree in Classical Interpretation.  His teachers included Jens Lindemann, James Thompson and Allen Vizzutti.

He became the Laureate of the National Music Festival in 2002 as well as the Radio-Canada Young Artists and Montreal Symphony Orchestra competitions. Five years later he won Montreal Conservatory of Music’s 2007 prix avec Grande distinction.

As a performer he has been a member of several orchestras that include Montreal Symphony Orchestra, Orchestre symphonique de Laval, Orchestre Symphonique de Longueuil, Orchestre Metropolitain, the National Arts Centre Orchestra and the Grand Ballet of Canada Orchestra.  In 2008 he became Principal Trumpet with the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra.

As a soloist he has given performances with the Alberta Baroque Ensemble, the ESO and Red Deer Symphony Orchestra.  As an ensemble member he has performed with the Contemporary Music Society of Quebec and the Contemporary Ensemble of Montreal.

Recordings he has performed on include La Premier Noel by Claire Pelletier and the soundtrack of Don Juan Music Hall Show: Felix Gray.

In the field of musical education he has been a faculty member of the University of Alberta.
