Violinist and singer who performed as a member of orchestras, bands and as a studio musician from the 1920s playing a mix of chamber music, dance music and jazz.
In 1927 he was a member of the string section of Paul Whiteman’s orchestra and in the 1940s he was a member of Archie Bleyer’s orchestra as well as playing with Harry James & His Orchestra.
He performed with orchestras at least until the 1960s but continued to be a musician in many recording sessions. He was also a musician on the Lawrence Welk Show and recorded sessions with Nat King Cole in 1958.
During his career he worked as a violinist and/or singer with countless artists and orchestras that include Mildred Bailey, Bix Beiderbecke, Hoagy Carmichael, Eartha Kitt, Gene Krupa, Dean Martin, Cole Porter, Artie Shaw and Sheb Wooley.
Just a few of the many albums he performed on include TV Favorites by Perry Como, Rhythm Boy by Bing Crosby, Que Sera, Sera by Doris Day, More Harry James in Hi-Fi by Harry James, That’s What Friends Are For by Johnny Mathis and Deniece Williams, The Columbia Years (1943-1952): The Complete Recordings by Frank Sinatra and Say It With Music by Paul Whiteman as well as countless compilations.
He passed away in November 1994 when he was 95 years old.
