Dey, Wolfgang (1956-Present)

He is an oboist, bassoonist, recorder player and professor who studied at the Musikhochschule in Cologne where he began to specialise in historical instruments and later studied baroque bassoon.

He became a member of Musica Antiqua Koln and performed with the ensemble on a national and international level and appeared on several recordings.

Other ensembles he has performed with during his career include Cafe Zimmerman, Concerto Koln, English Baroque Soloists and L’Orfeo Barockorchester.

On screen he has performed the recorder and oboe on the soundtrack of the 2000 film Le Roi Danse.  He has also played on recordings that include Haendel: Giulio Cesare with Concerto Koln, Georg Philipp Telemann: 3 Orchestral Suites with L’Orfeo Barockorchester and Concert “Per L’Orchestra by Di Dresda”, Johann David Heinichen: Dresden Concerti, Heinichen: Lamentationes – Passionsmusik and Charpentier: Musiquee Sacree with Musica Antiqua Koln.

In the field of musical education he started to teach chamber music, recorder, baroque bassoon and baroque oboe in 1981 at the Musikhochschule in Cologne.  He was the visiting professor at the Recorder Academy of Indiana University in Bloomington in 2005 and from 2010 has taught bassoon, oboe and recorder at the Mayen School of Music in Koblenz.
