Deuter, Florian (1965-Present)

He is a violinist and conductor born in Mulheim an der Ruhr, Germany, who studied in Cologne and Dusseldorf.  He started his professional career as a historical performance musician when he was invited by the  conductor Reinhard Goebel to become a member of his Musica Antiqua Koln in 1986.  He became the concertmaster in 1994 and remained with the orchestra until 2000.

In 2000 he became the concertmaster for the Musiciens de Louvre and in 2003, with several other members of the orchestra, he became a founder and concertmaster of the Harmonie Universalle ensemble.  Concentrating their performances on 17th and 18th century music, their success has been such that they have given many acclaimed performances and recorded several albums.  In 2013 the ensemble performed works by Heinrich Ignaz Franz Biber for their 10th anniversary concert in Cologne.  This concert was recorded and broadcast by West German Radio.

He has also been called upon by various other ensembles during his career and has performed as concertmaster with ensembles and orchestras such as The Amsterdam Baroque Orchestra, Capriccio Stravagante, La Chapelle Royale, Collegium Vocale Ghent, The European Baroque Orchestra, Gabrieli Consort and Musica ad Rhenum.

His recording output has seen him featuring on many albums with a few of them being Handel: Water Music by The Amsterdam Baroque Orchestra, French Baroque: Versailles 1700-1740 by Ensemble 1700 and Dorothee Oberlinger, Le Roi Danse by Musica Antiqua Koln, Purcell: Hail, Bright Cecilia by the Gabrieli Consort, Vivaldi: Concerti pour Violino by Harmonie Universalle, Quantz: Concerti from Dresden & Berlin by Musica ad Rhenum, Handel: Giulio Cesare by the Musiciens du Louvre and Popular Spanish Songs by Liliana Rodriguez among others.

In the field of musical education he has given courses in Baroque violin.
