Del Russo, Catherine

She is an oboist and professor who studied at the Eastman School of Music from 1974 to 1978.

Her musical career has seen performing and touring in South America, Alaska and Europe as a member of many American orchestras, including the majority of major ensembles based in Southern California. These include being an oboist with the Beverly Hills Orchestra, the Los Angeles Mozart Orchestra, the San Diego Chamber Orchestra, an Associate Principal Oboe with the Honolulu Symphony Orchestra during the 2001-2 season, and Principal Oboe with the Three Tenors and Glendale Symphony Orchestra.

In more recent years she has been an English horn player with the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra since 1991 and the Principal Oboist with the Downey Symphony and the Santa Monica Symphony Orchestra.

No stranger to the recording studio she has appeared on albums with the San Diego Chamber Orchestra and the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra and the bassoonist Allen Savedoff. Her She has also performed in the orchestra when Carrie Underwood gave a concert at the Hollywood Bowl.

Some of the recordings she can be heard on include Last Concert and Best of the Concord Years by Rosemary Clooney, Savoir Faire by Allen Savedoff, Blue Solitaire by The Telling and Movies Go Baroque.

She has performed on several movie soundtracks and commercials with just a few including The Day After Tomorrow, Family Guy, Homeward Bound and Pocahontas.

In the field of musical education she has been a member of the faculty of Occidental College and Malibu’s Pepperdine University as an Oboe Professor.
